Description of Duties: The Living Wise and Well volunteer is a crucial function of Pathways to Wellness and is the first contact most participants will make. The Living Wise and Well volunteer will provide logistical support to staff such as set up and tear down, registration, handing out materials, and attending the event. Volunteers are responsible for operations of the registration and check-in process. This includes greeting MEND participants, checking in/out participants, directing community members to the area of the activity and assisting throughout the activity.
Impact: The Living Wise and Well volunteers play an important role in creating a welcoming and professional environment for all staff, participants and visitors that come to MEND.
Specific Responsibilities: The Living Wise and Well volunteer will compile information from participants at check-in/out such as name, MEND ID, phone number, and family size. Volunteers will assist new MEND participants with registration forms and ensure all sections and waiver signatures are collected. Volunteers will assist with handing out program materials such as program calendars and flyers. Based on inventory, volunteers will hand out donations for the week which can include but not limited to: adult diapers, glucose monitors, protein shakes, tote bags, etc. Volunteers will be expected to assist with senior activities if needed such as distributing materials: Bingo Cards, crayons, paper, etc.
Skills/Experience/Resources/Certifications Needed:Bilingual, customer service, time-efficient, previous experience in working with low income and minority community. Must be comfortable speaking with different racial and ethnic groups. Must demonstrate cultural competence and be sensitive to vulnerable populations.
Dress Code:Dress in a way that allows for comfort, flexibility, and functionality. Wear clean and appropriate clothing that contributes to a professional appearance. Wear close-toes shoes.
Time Commitment: First and Third Tuesday of the month 8:30am-11:30pm
Covid-19 Vaccination and Masking: MEND follows the LA Public Health Guidelines for COVID-19 cases (isolation) and close contact. While at MEND masks are optional
