Event Overview: Join us in spreading joy at our holiday event, where we’ll serve a hot meal and provide entertainment for our seniors 55+ community. Volunteers are essential in making this event a success!
Volunteer Impact: Assist MEND in providing participants within surrounding communities with a food kit filled with healthy and quality produce, and other non-perishable foods to enjoy for the holidays. Provide assistance with making the event successful and enjoyable for all participants.
Description of Duties & Responsibilities: On the day of the event volunteers will be assigned to support in the following areas. Registration: Welcome guests and assist with the check-in process. Maintain a friendly and organized registration area. Food and Kit Distribution: Help set up food stations. Serve meals and assist guests in navigating the food options. Distribute holiday kits to attendees. Hospitality: Greet guests with a warm smile and aid as needed. Ensure that the seating areas are clean and comfortable. Check in on guests during the event, ensuring their needs are met. Gift Hand-Out: Organize and distribute gifts to attendees, ensuring everyone receives one. Ensure a smooth and joyful experience during the gift distribution. General Support: Help with setup and cleanup before and after the event. Be available to assist other volunteers and staff where needed. Promote a positive atmosphere and engage with attendees.
Skills/Experience/Resources/Certifications Needed: Good communication skills; ability to interact with volunteers and participants. Volunteers must be patient while working with the MEND community. Must be able to move up to 25 pounds. Upbeat and enthusiastic for the holiday spirit, Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations. Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred for registration role. Ability to work as part of a team.
Dress Code: Wear comfortable clothing suitable for physical work, if you have festive clothing that would be recommended (i.e. Holiday sweater). Opt for items that allow for a full range of movement and are not overly restrictive. Wear closed-toed shoes with non-slip soles to protect your feet.
Time Commitment: Volunteers are expected to commit to the entire duration of the event, including any necessary setup and cleanup.
Covid-19 Vaccination and Masking: MEND follows the LA Public Health Guidelines for COVID-19 cases isolation and close contact. While at MEND masks are optional.
