Description of Duties: The Community Health Fair volunteer is a crucial function of Pathways to Wellness Health Fair and is the first contact most participants will make. The Community Health Fair volunteer will provide logistical support to staff such as handing out health fair documents such as: Health Passport, Consent Forms, and Registration Packets and will ensure all forms are collected and submitted to Program Coordinator by the end of the Fair. Volunteers are responsible for operations of the registration and health fair check-in process. This includes greeting MEND participants, checking in/out participants, ensuring the signing of health consent forms and directing community members to areas of the fair.
Impact: The Community Health Fair volunteers play an important role in creating a welcoming and professional environment for all staff, participants and visitors that come to MEND.
Specific Responsibilities: The Community Health Fair volunteer will compile information from participants at check-in/out such as name, MEND ID, phone number, and family size. Volunteers will assist new MEND participants with registration forms and ensure all sections and waiver signatures are collected. Volunteers will assist with handing out health fair passports and goodie bags at registration and will collect completed passports while participants exit. Volunteers will have a general knowledge of the community partners, resources, and screenings being offered at MEND’s Community Health Fair.
Skills/Experience/Resources/Certifications Needed: Bilingual, customer service, time-efficient, previous experience in working with low income and minority community. Must demonstrate cultural competence and be sensitive to vulnerable populations. Ability to move up to x lbs.
Dress Code: Business casual attire with closed-toe comfortable shoes (flats, clean sneakers) that provide secure footing. Dress in a way that allows for comfort, flexibility, and functionality.

Covid-19 Vaccination and Masking: MEND follows the LA Public Health Guidelines for COVID-19 cases isolation and close contact. While at MEND masks are optional.
